Black History I Course Overview

In the 10 week course taught by Mr. Cook, students will explore various aspects of Race, Culture, African History and African-American History. I have learned so much in these last 10 weeks and this course is so extremely beneficial to all who are lucky enough to experience it.

Beginning with the "Race and Science" unit, students will explore the political, social and economic aspects and history regarding the concept of Race. Also, learn the characteristics attributed people to people of African, European and Asian descent.

Next, you will take a deep dive into Ancient Egypt as you receive an in-depth understanding of how Egypt is African...even if the two aren't mentioned in relation to one another when discussing history!

Finally, to conclude the course, the "N-word" lesson is taught. This was one of my personal favorites! It provides such a rich history regarding the word, it's origin, purpose, etymology and uses. Also, Cook's analogies enforce the information, making it easier to comprehend such heavy concepts.
